Beautiful scenery around Hsia Yun

Hsia Yun is located in Fu Xing district of Taoyuan. Although it is not as convenient as the city center, it enthralls every visitor with its natural scenery and living pace. I am missing those mornings with the bird singing and chirping woke me up; I am missing the greetings from the green mountain under the boundless blue sky; I am missing the laughter of every innocent child. You’re going to fall in love with this place once you’ve come here!!

The stars 

It was the first time we’ve seen so many stars in the sky. The cloudless sky was jeweled with myriads of glittering stars. We lied down on the ground and enjoyed the night. (The real picture was much more spectacular than what captured by the camera!!) Such amazing night view made me not willing to leave:( Without doubts, I would like to stay here for few more days just for these eye-catching stars.

I love the sky in Hsia Yun, for both sunny days and cloudy days. The green mountain and the blue sky greeted me every morning when I walked out from the room.

On cloudy days, the sky entirely fits the name of Hsia Yun（霞雲）which signifies “full of fog”. A sense of mystery always stole over me when I looked out of the sky.

Fireflies
Unfortunately, the season of fireflies was just past when we visited Hsia Yun. Some teachers told us that numerous fireflies could be found around there during April and May!! It must have been a great experience if we had spotted it. (╥﹏╥)

Tiemu Waterfall
Tiemu waterfall is about 10-minute distance from our school. It would be great if we could go there again and walk down the stairs and paddle in the stream!!

The stream
We were so lucky that we were invited by the grade six students to join their party after their graduation ceremony. We barbecued and paddled near the stream with the teachers and children. The stream water was so clean and clear. What a special experience for us!! There are also many camping sites which are mostly located near the streams. People from the city center always come here for relaxation and enjoy their holiday. Therefore, a long queue of cars is usually found in Hsia Yun every weekend~

A day in Hsiayun

How is a normal school day be like in Hsiayun? LET ME SHOW YOU!!

After cleaning, students officially start the day with a 30-minutes reading lesson every morning. To encourage students to read more books, book shelves are everywhere and book corner can be found in every classroom. Every morning, we read books with primary one students. Most of them love to read books. They choose the books that they were interested in and read the books quietly. They always asked us lots of questions about the books.(*´▽`*)

The next lesson is sports lesson. Students discuss and choose one kind of sports to play together. They play dodgeball most of the times which is really exciting.(ﾉ>ω<)ﾉ

Lunch hour start from 12:00 to 13:00pm everyday. Grade 5 students are taking up the responsibility to serve food for teachers and students.

The food is so tasty and healthy and we all love it VERY VERY MUCH!!! (*´▽`*)  

Hsiayun encourages students to explore and discover their own interest and hobby. The school provides lots of opportunities for students to explore what they are interested in. For example, the individual study lesson（專題自主研究）allows students to choose a topic that they are interested in to study and conduct a research. Some students made a boat, some studied the relationship between motor and propeller. A primary five students used bamboo to make a guitar. Another primary five student made a wooden marble labyrinth. Also, through lesson, students can try to finish a project individually. They can learn, explore themselves and even have fun at the same time.

Besides, there are many extra curricula activities for students to join. For example, choir, flute class, archery class, maker classroom etc. Maker classroom is a club which encourage students to turn their raw ideas into real solid outcome or product. With various activities and clubs, students can explore more on different fields and find out their own interest.

End of first week, we got different feelings. But what we appreciate so much is that the whole school is just like a big family. The bonding between students and teachers are very strong. Teacher is not only about imparting knowledge to students, but about companion and instilling true moral values in students. Friendship is developed between students and teachers. Besides, the bonding between students in different grades is strong as well. They all have close relationship with each others. That's so enviable!!
